Topic: Bright piano... What about to bright the pianist ?

There are many sad piano songs, and it's logic supose this can be, in some cases, result of a few sad feelings, specially in cold, winter, when sun almost not shinning in north of Europe.

Could a ear (MP3 like) device "bright the pianist's atmosphere" ?

Today sicence is aware of SAD (seasonal affective disorder), caused by very low incidence of sun ligh. It not just reduce vitamin-D prodution (important for mood) but the lack of sun light also appears to direct  affect brain, the mood/disposition.

A device was created to shine direct to the brain to try compensate this sun light depreivation. It's called valkee:

Re: Bright piano... What about to bright the pianist ?

I was going to say it's garbage but thought that there might be some logic behind it. Light (from the Sun) penetrate the ear canal, but how deep I do not know. From there it might regulate some daily cycles and release of hormones. Light therapy targets the eyes mostly while in nature, light from the Sun is less selective.

I'm trying to find out if behind earcanal there is some soft tissue that could allow directed light to reach the brain. It's a bit hard to believe with such bones around.

Check this out: http://journals.plos.org/plosone/articl...ne.0149525

Also a large section is cartilaginous rather than plain bones...

You might need to put a dab of sun tan lotion on a Q-tip just for safety.

Maybe it's better save money. It's probably a hoax dressed like science :

Efficiency aside, charging 200EUR for basically a two LED device and their driver is a setback. There's like max 15$ of equipment there with basic electronic manipulation for anyone who want one.

Re: Bright piano... What about to bright the pianist ?

Greetings from Finland. I´m (not so) proud to say that this is a Finnish company... and totally garbage. It´s been around from 2007 and has been sucking up money from gullible investors AND Finnish taxpayers (2,4 million euros tax money during 2010-2014 as research- innovation- and product-development funding) ever since. It makes heavy losses (6,4 million euros in last three fiscal years) but it´s NOT heading for bankcruptcy... oh no... they simply "have more product development loans than cash". Product development? Does anyone REALLY need millions to tweak up 2 leds, earplugs and a battery case? Well... I can come up with some new products without any... nasal plugs with disinfective uv-leds to treat common cold plus a rectal one to prevent hemmorhoids... feel free to order from me... only 199,99 euros per unit... I however strongly suggest you use your moolah for a bottle of nice 12+ year old single malt whiskey or whatever poison pleases you. Same or better results.

edit:

P.S.
Never thought my first post on P.T. forum would be about VALKEE... I´ve been reading these forums for a few years (great info here) but when I saw this thread I just HAD to sign up...

LEDs, lights in general, when in wavelenght nog around 650nm have somw anti inflamatory effect.
But there are companies selling LEDs and laser (weak like a laser pointer), saying it grows hair, remove wrinkles and other snake oil advertizings.

It's a very corrupt world !!!

Re: Bright piano... What about to bright the pianist ?

Thank you, Beto-Music. When I listened to these happy versions, I remember an amazing example, in my school, about the healing power of music. How music really affected my pupils, those who couldnt always concentrate. We began to listen to quiet peaceful classic music, (first I had to earn their trust, took months) Vivaldi, Grieg, Debussy aso and after 6 months the other teachers said that something had happened in my class. There were almost no troubles anymore, happy pupils. I continued listening 3 years with the same class. So, maybe if people choose music as carefully as they choose healthy food and comfortable clothes, maybe they could feel better. At least my pupils asked for more of that kind of music, it was relaxing and they became even more polite. Music is a powerful tool when want to influence peoples behavior, in different directions (different music, different direction, as above sad/happy music). Well, that what I think about it and have experienced. Wish I had Ptq 40 years ago in school. Today for me, playing Pianoteq, is a good form of stress relief, give me a positive atmosphere and keep my brain in condition.
